Happy Teachers Day, 5 September 2018

Teachers Day is celebrated the world over. However, the dates can vary country or region-wise. Teachers Day is observed in honor, respect, and admiration, value, in appreciation and to thank the teachers, mentors, couches, and Gurus on this special day. The practice of observance of Teachers Day dates back at least about 200 years in history.

Teachers Day celebration date in some of the countries is like for UAE, Russia, Kuwait, Japan, Germany, Canada etc – 5th October; US – 1st week of May; China – 10th September etc.

In India and Nepal, Teachers Day can also be related to Guru Purnima. Guru Purnima in 2018 was observed on the 27th of July. It falls on the full moon, Purnima, in the Hindu lunar calendar month of Ashadha. Guru means the Master, supreme Teacher, guide. Teachers Day also marks the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, born on the 5th of September, 1888; hence the observance of Teachers Day in India as the 5th of September.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the 2nd President of India. He was highly qualified, and a renowned Philosopher, Educationist, and Professor. His invitations-appointments included the Oxford University.

Many students, children, schools, educational institutes organize sweets, gifts, debates or party gatherings; many recapitulate speeches etc in tribute to their respective Teachers. They wish, praise, cherish, pamper and thank them on this occasion. Many celebrities, political leaders, corporate leaders, noble personalities etc send out greeting messages especially on the social media sites like Twitter, Facebook Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Plus, WhatsApp, YouTube, SMS, blog sites etc.
